Intermittent wanderings exploring elements of geography and cartography. |
I've been teaching geospatial science and geography for well over a decade now, and I thoroughly enjoy exploring and interpreting our planet from a geographic perspective. My favorite region on the planet is the greater Pacific Northwest, stretching from the northernmost reaches of California up the coast to Alaska, moving eastward across British Columbia and Alberta in Canada, and flowing southward along a margin that includes western Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
In my courses, the locations, events, and processes of the Pacific Northwest are explored through geographic concepts and applications; books, articles, films, landscape photography, computer mapping, satellite imagery and personal observations on the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest provide important linkages between the definitions you encounter in a textbook and the environments you experience in person.
